The mission of Brain Injury Rights Group, Ltd. is to be the leading
research-driven, advocacy organization for the rights of the brain injury
(and brain-based disorders) community across the complex medical and
legal systems these families must navigate.
The Brain Injury Rights Group, Ltd. (BIRG) is non-profit civil and legal rights advocacy group for the brain injury community. BIRG represents families and students who have acquired brain injuries in all matters of special education law that arise under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and New York State Education Law. We assist those families in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEP), attending IEP meetings, reviewing evaluations and related documentation, filing “due process complaints,” negotiating settlement agreements, as well as representing and litigating on behalf of families in Impartial Hearings and before federal and state administrative agencies and courts.
